Another method is to copy the video from your cache. If you type in about:cache in the address bar (in firefox) a new page should open.

On that page you will get a URL something like:
C:\Users\XXX\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\hwebu6gu.default\Cache

Clear the cache.

Now load the youtube video.
Refresh the cache list (at C:\Users\XXX\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\hwebu6gu.default\Cache)

The file with the increasing file size is your video. Once it finishes increasing in size, simply copy it over to your desktop and save with a .flv extension.

You can open this format with various programs, one of the popular one being: VideoLan (VLC)
